"You must lay aside all prejudice on both sides, and neither believe nor reject anything, because any other persons, or description of persons, have rejected or believed it. Your own reason is the only oracle given you by heaven, and you are answerable, not for the rightness, but uprightness of the decision." T. Jefferson

About this blog

There are people out there who think they have me all figured out. After all, I was a vocal critic of the Bush administration, who displayed bumper stickers on my Prius hybrid with things such as “Peace is patriotic.” I believe the government has no right to interfere with one’s reproductive choices or marriage partners. I’m a fanatic when it comes to conservation and ecology.

Thus they are often surprised to learn I believe in smaller government and lower taxes, and am a fierce opponent of the “stimulus” packages conceived by both parties. I don’t believe it’s the government’s place to run socialized programs, and I will argue that welfare has inadvertently created generations of dependent people without hope.

Can I be the only one out there who wants limited government at both ends of the spectrum?

The media would like you to think that it’s all red or blue. Conflict sells papers.  Simplified issues are so much easier to argue.

Politicians would like you to think the only choice is left or right. What an excellent job they’ve done of brainwashing us that anyone who does not tote one of the two established party lines is obviously nuts.

There are other options.

Dare to think for yourself. Dare to question your beliefs.
